WHAT IS AN ALUMINIUM ANGLE?
An aluminium angle is a piece of extruded aluminium that has the shape of an “L”. It is commonly used in construction and fabrication projects as a structural element to provide support and stability.
The two sides of the angle are usually at a 90-degree angle to each other, and the thickness of the material can vary depending on the intended application.

Equal Aluminium Angles
Equal aluminium angles are a type of aluminium angle where both sides of the “L” shape are of equal length.
At MG Metals, our range of equal aluminium angles includes imperial equal angles measuring from ¾” on each side to 6” on each side, and metric equal angles measuring from 20 – 50mm on each side. These are available in a range of thicknesses.
Unequal Aluminium Angles
Unequal aluminium angles have one side that is longer than the other though the angle remains at 90 degrees. These can be useful when one leg of the angle needs to be longer or shorter than the other to meet specific design requirements.

ALUMINIUM ANGLES FAQs
In an equal aluminium angle, both legs of the angle have the same length. On the other hand, in an unequal aluminium angle, the length of the two legs is different. The longer leg in an unequal angle is usually used as the load-bearing side, while the shorter leg is used for attachment or fixing.
